Privacy Policy

Penciled In ("the app," "we," "us") is a personal calendar, planner, notes, meal-planning, and reflection app. We built it to be private by design. This policy explains what the app does and does not do with your information.

The short version

We do not collect, sell, rent, or share your personal data. We have no servers that store your content, no analytics or tracking, and no third-party advertising. Everything you create stays on your device and, if you choose, in your own private iCloud account.

What the app stores, and where

• Your content — events, tasks, reminders, notes, meal plans, grocery lists, reflections, photos you attach, and your appearance/customization settings — is stored locally on your device.
• iCloud sync (optional) — if you are signed into iCloud, your content may sync across your own Apple devices using Apple's CloudKit. This data lives in your private iCloud account, governed by Apple's Privacy Policy. We cannot see or access it.
• We do not operate any server that receives or stores your content.

Device permissions we request

• Calendar & Reminders — only if you turn on sync, to read and write your events and reminders on your device. This data is not sent to us.
• Photos — to let you attach images to events, lists, and meals. Photos stay on your device / in your iCloud.
• Camera — to scan documents or text directly into your notes, processed on device.
• Face ID / Touch ID — to unlock the app's private planner. Authentication is handled by Apple on your device; we never receive your biometric data.
• Notifications — to deliver your own local reminders. These are scheduled on your device; we do not send push notifications from a server.

Artificial intelligence features

Any AI-assisted features (such as generating a shopping list for a meal) run on your device using Apple Intelligence. Your text and content are not transmitted to us or to any third-party AI service.

Subscriptions and payments

Penciled In offers an optional auto-renewing Premium subscription (monthly or annual) sold through Apple's App Store. Payments are processed entirely by Apple; we never receive or store your payment card details. Subscription management and billing are governed by Apple. Subscription status is verified on your device through Apple's StoreKit.

Analytics, tracking, and advertising

None. We do not use analytics SDKs, trackers, advertising networks, or any third-party software development kits that collect personal data. We do not track you across apps or websites.

Children

Penciled In is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children.

Your control over your data

Because your data is stored on your device and in your own iCloud, you are in control. You can delete any item in the app, and you can remove all app data by deleting the app and, if you use iCloud, removing its data from your iCloud settings.

Changes to this policy

If we change this policy, we will update the "Last updated" date above and post the revised version at this URL.
