1. Overview
Quarterdeck ("we", "our", or "the app") is a personal productivity application for iPhone, iPad, and Mac developed by Dylan Dalmeida. We are committed to protecting your privacy. This policy explains what data Quarterdeck handles, why, and how.
2. Data We Collect
Quarterdeck stores the following data exclusively on your device and in your personal iCloud account:
- Tasks, notes, code snippets, finance entries, and agenda events you create
- Your optional display name (stored in device preferences)
- App preferences (task priority, notification settings, trial start date)
We do not collect, transmit, or sell any of this data to third parties.
3. iCloud Sync
If you are signed into iCloud, Quarterdeck uses CloudKit to sync your data across your own devices. This sync happens directly between your devices and Apple's iCloud infrastructure. We never have access to your iCloud data. Apple's privacy policy governs iCloud: apple.com/legal/privacy.
4. AI Insights (Apple Intelligence)
The AI Insight feature on the Home screen uses Apple's on-device Foundation Models framework. All processing occurs locally on your device. No data is sent to external servers by Quarterdeck for AI purposes.
5. In-App Purchases & Subscriptions
Quarterdeck offers optional subscriptions (monthly, yearly) and a lifetime purchase via Apple's StoreKit. All payment processing is handled entirely by Apple. We do not receive or store your payment information. Purchases are subject to Apple's terms: Apple EULA.
6. Analytics & Advertising
Quarterdeck contains no third-party analytics SDKs, no advertising SDKs, and no tracking pixels. We do not use any cross-app or cross-website tracking.
7. Camera & Photo Library
Quarterdeck may request access to your camera or photo library only if you choose to attach images to notes or projects. Photos are stored locally and synced through your iCloud account. We never upload images to our servers.
8. Face ID / Biometrics
Quarterdeck uses Face ID or Touch ID to unlock PIN-protected notes. Biometric data never leaves your device and is handled entirely by iOS/macOS security frameworks.
9. Calendars & Reminders
Quarterdeck may request access to Calendar and Reminders to optionally sync agenda events and tasks. This data is read/written through Apple's frameworks and remains in your personal Apple account. We do not transmit it externally.
10. Data Retention & Deletion
All data lives on your device and iCloud account. You can delete any content from within the app at any time. Uninstalling Quarterdeck from all devices and clearing the associated iCloud container from iCloud.com will remove all data.
11. Children's Privacy
Quarterdeck is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children.
12. Changes to This Policy
If we make material changes to this policy, we will update the "Last updated" date at the top and notify users via an in-app notice on the next launch.
13. Your Rights (GDPR / CCPA)
Because all data is stored in your own device and iCloud account, you have complete control. To exercise the right to erasure, delete your data from within Quarterdeck and remove the iCloud container from iCloud.com under Settings → Manage Storage → Quarterdeck.
